Clyde Shanks was appointed to co-ordinate a professional team to prepare a planning application for a world class new maintenance compound befitting of Royal County Down’s globally renowned links and its status as one of the top 10 golf courses in the world.

The new facility was complemented by reconfiguration of the access and entrance to the golf club with new duneland created to present a much more fitting approach and exit to Royal County Down, framing views of Slieve Donard for departing visitors.  It was completed prior to the Club hosting the Irish Open in 2024.
