Wallace High School, Lisburn
Clyde Shanks was appointed by Wallace High School to advise on the potential development of a surplus shale pitch for value generating residential development to assist the school with wider capital investment plans. This involved engaging Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council (LCCC) and DfI Roads Service in pre-application discussions to discuss planning policy compliance and most notably open space policy and access design. LCCC accepted that the proposed development was policy compliant in terms of open space policy but it was refused on access grounds due to objections from DfI Roads. After an appeal to the Planning Appeals Commission they granted planning permission for this 11 detached dwelling proposal. A follow up reserved matters submission is presently under consideration by LCCC and we expect a positive decision on that by summer 2024.
