Clyde Shanks has previously co-ordinated the professional team in securing resolution to grant planning permission by Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council in April 2021 for two major planning applications that are vital in shaping the future growth of Lisburn city.  This includes a 1.6km new road, the M1-Knockmore link road connecting north and west Lisburn to the A1/M1 and a major new mixed-use neighbourhood.  DfI called in both applications pending review of LCCC’s emerging new Local Development Plan at examination in public in May 2022.  In August 2023 DfI approved the full planning application for the road but issued a notice of opinion to refuse for the outline application for the mixed-use neighbourhood.

Work is ongoing in relation to a fresh planning application submission following the adoption of LCCC’s Plan Strategy in September 2023.
